Innovation in Fabrication: Powering the Lululemon Retail Experience

In the world of premium retail, the "Science of Feel" extends far beyond the apparel on the racks—it’s built into the very walls of the store. Blast recently partnered with lululemon to produce and install a suite of highly technical Point-of-Purchase (POP) signage and environmental branding that pushes the boundaries of modern fabrication.

For a brand that lives at the intersection of performance and aesthetics, a standard flat sign simply won't do. Our team utilized an array of specialized manufacturing techniques to create a tactile, multi-dimensional environment.

1. 5-Axis CNC’d Typography

To create signage that mirrors the fluid movement of the human body, we moved beyond traditional 2D routing. Using 5-axis CNC machining, we were able to craft letters with complex, organic curves and deep undercuts. This adds a sculptural quality to the branding, making the typography feel like a dynamic part of the architecture rather than an afterthought.

2. The Art of the Material Mashup

One of the most unique elements of this project involved blending three distinct manufacturing styles into a single cohesive piece:

• Organic Foundations: Solid wood blocks providing a warm, natural base.

• Heat-Bent Acrylic: Precision-curved elements that add a sleek, modern transparency.

• 3D-Printed Detailing: Intricate, high-resolution 3D-printed letters mounted directly to the blocks, allowing for geometries that traditional carving can’t achieve.

3. Industrial Strength: Metal Moulded Steel

For high-traffic areas requiring a permanent, premium presence, we fabricated custom metal moulded steel letters. These pieces offer a weighted, industrial feel that communicates durability and quality—perfect for a brand built on technical performance.

4. Immersion via Infinity Light Boxes

To draw the eye and create a sense of futuristic depth, we engineered and installed infinity light boxes. By layering LED arrays with specialized mirrors, these units create a "tunnel" effect that gives the branding an endless, glowing perspective. It’s a high-impact visual tool that instantly elevates the retail zone it inhabits.

From Concept to Installation
