Over 15 years on West 4th: Keeping The Boardroom’s Storefront Fresh
In the world of retail, standing still is the same as moving backward. On a street as iconic as West 4th Avenue, your window isn't just a piece of glass—it’s your first impression, your billboard, and your brand’s personality all rolled into one.
At Blast Media, we’ve had the incredible privilege of helping The Boardroom keep that first impression sharp for over 15 years.
Allan Louie detailed the history of his relationship with The Boardroom:
"Murray Fraser and The Boardroom were my first ever client — back in 2001, when I was manufacturing private label clothing for my father Nick Louie's company. Murray was the first person to trust me professionally, and that's not something you forget.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of working alongside some incredible people there — Pear, Fred Glackmeyer, Travis Bar, Tina Guidon, and now Max Fraser. A whole community of people who never stopped believing in what we were building together.
When I made the jump from the garment business into large format printing in 2009, The Boardroom was one of my first calls. Printing and installing one of the most visible windows on West 4th — in the heart of Vancouver's action sports retail district — was a milestone I still think about.
Since then, we've done it all for them through Blast Media Print: motor-driven skateboard displays, Vans campaigns, RVCA, Element, 3D installs, perforated window film. Every season, every drop, every collab — I've always treated this storefront like it was my own.
Shoutout to Murray and Max for 25 years of trust. This is what forever relationships look like — and it's the best part of this industry."
Watching their storefront evolve alongside the seasons, the gear, and the culture of Kitsilano has been one of our favorite long-term partnerships. Here’s a look at how we’ve kept the tradition alive for a decade.
The Art of the Regular Refresh
The Boardroom isn't your average shop; they are an institution for the outdoor and board-sport community. Because they are constantly bringing in the latest tech and hottest apparel, their windows need to move just as fast.
Over the last 10 years, we’ve tackled everything for them:
-
High-Impact Window Vinyl: Bold, seasonal graphics that stop foot traffic.
-
Dimensional Displays: From 3D elements to moving parts (like that memorable motor-driven skateboard display!).
-
Brand Collaborations: Executing specific visions for brands like Vans, RVCA, and Element, ensuring every logo and color is perfectly on-brand.
Spotlight: The Latest Transformation
Consistency is key, but the "new" is what keeps people coming back. We just finished printing and installing their latest window update, and it might be one of our cleanest ones yet.
By using premium high-resolution prints and precision-cut vinyl, we’ve transformed the glass into a vibrant preview of what’s waiting inside the shop.

Why the 10+ Year Milestone Matters
Longevity in business is built on trust. For over a decade, The Boardroom has trusted us to handle:
-
Precision Execution: Making sure every edge is perfect and every bubble is gone.
-
Fast Turnarounds: Getting the old graphics down and the new ones up so there’s zero disruption to their business.
-
Durable Quality: Using materials that can handle the West Coast rain and the afternoon sun on 4th Avenue without fading.
Looking Ahead
Here’s to another decade and then some of bold designs and legendary window displays. Next time you’re cruising through Kits, keep an eye out for the latest look—we likely just stepped off the ladder!
