Ringing in the Year of the Horse: Lunar New Year Transformations at Lougheed and Metrotown
The Lunar New Year is a season of vibrancy, tradition, and bold beginnings. This year, for the Year of the Horse, Blast Media had the privilege of bringing that energy to life in two of the Lower Mainland’s most iconic shopping destinations.

A Golden Celebration at The City of Lougheed
To celebrate the Year of the Horse at The City of Lougheed, we knew we needed something more impactful than a standard print. We went for a high-luxury finish using actual reflective gold vinyl for a massive wall mural and floor display.
-
Symbolism in Every Detail: Gold represents wealth and good fortune. By using a true reflective metallic rather than a flat yellow ink, the display literally glows as shoppers walk by, mimicking the brightness of the new year.
-
The Power of the Horse: The Year of the Horse is defined by energy, strength, and moving forward. Our floor-to-wall vinyl installation creates a seamless, high-energy environment that honors those traits through bold, sharp design.
Honoring Heritage at Metropolis at Metrotown
Over at Metropolis at Metrotown Mall, we assisted in a special Lunar New Year tribute featuring the Chinatown Storytelling Centre.

This installation serves as a bridge between the historical roots of the community and the modern excitement of the holiday. In a high-traffic environment like Metrotown, these displays provide a moment of reflection and cultural connection amidst the Year of the Horse celebrations.
Why Mall Installations Require a "Pro" Touch
Lunar New Year is one of the busiest retail seasons of the year. Our work at Lougheed and Metrotown proves that Blast Media can deliver under the pressure of mall deadlines and high-spec requirements:
-
Durability: Our floor vinyls are built to withstand the thousands of families visiting for New Year festivities.
-
Visual Depth: Using specialty materials like reflective gold ensures your brand isn't lost in the crowd.
-
Community Focus: We take pride in helping malls celebrate the diverse cultural fabric of Burnaby, Vancouver and throughout the Lower Mainland and beyond!
Gong Xi Fa Cai! As we gallop into the Year of the Horse, we’re proud to see our work shining in the heart of our community.
